This Is Why SEO Tools Are Lying About Search Volume

Keyword Search Volume can be proudly called the most deceptive SEO metric – in some cases, there’s a 30X difference in readings between various tools.

To understand why this happens, I’ve taken a deeper look at how exactly this metric is calculated and ways you can refine search volume data in your projects. (…)

As expected, no tool was a perfect match, but some did better than others. Semrush was a clear winner, followed closely by Rank Tracker and Ahrefs, while Moz had the least matches with actual data, and often off by a lot. Again, this was a very small test and probably has no value beyond mild amusement. (…)

As long as you are using search volume to prioritize keywords, it doesn’t matter which tool you choose — keywords will remain similarly popular or unpopular across different tools.

A new image format is on the rise: AVIF has landed

Back in ancient July I released a video that dug into how lossy and lossless image compression works and how to apply that knowledge to compress a set of different images for the web. Well, that’s already out of date because AVIF has arrived. Brilliant.

AVIF is a new image format derived from the keyframes of AV1 video. It’s a royalty-free format, and it’s already supported in Chrome 85 on desktop. Android support will be added soon, Firefox is working on an implementation, and although it took Safari 10 years to add WebP support, I don’t think we’ll see the same delay here, as Apple are a member of the group that created AV1.

What I’m saying is, the time to care about AVIF is now. (…)

Roughly speaking, at an acceptable quality, the WebP is almost half the size of JPEG, and AVIF is under half the size of WebP. I find it incredible that AVIF can do a good job of the image in just 18 kB.

Google Tables

Tables, with other teams at Google, is investing in automation. For Tables, this means Bots. With Bots, teams can easily schedule recurring email reminders when tasks are overdue, message a chat room when new form submissions are received, or move a task to someone else’s work queue when the status is changed.

News: Wichtige E-Mails bleiben durch „Anheften“ immer sichtbar

[Outlook] [365]
